Past-Times Traditional and Home School Educational Workshops--Our Village or Yours
At Our Village: During the fall season, classroom teachers and home school parents schedule a Friday at the renaissance English village to immerse students in firsthand learning workshops. The day’s curriculum is tailored to each group’s educational needs and is age-group appropriate. Children are taught in small groups no larger than 15 students of similar age.
The school day comprises four, fifty-minute workshops, two in the morning and two after lunch. Generally the fourth workshop is an interactive performance for the whole group and features a talented re-enactor such as Sir Frances Drake or Queen Elizabeth.
At Your Village: During the spring, we bring our artists and trade crafters to your school or meeting site...We can even help you plan a renaissance celebration as an educational event.
Past-Times Workshops offer numerous opportunities for learning about history, culture, politics, daily life, and traditions. Many workshop listed under Weekend Workshops can be requested for student groups, but some are planned for students only, such as archery, learning to put on a pageant, history of weaponry, fencing, and others. We emphasize workshops as opportunities for students to interact personally in the learning experience, practicing new skills, imagining concepts and history, and making projects to take home. Teachers can request that workshops help achieve specific academic or developmental goals for their students. Whether Our Village or Yours, workshops depend on artist/trade crafter availability.
Rates vary according to the size of the group. Reservations are required.
